Actually, I probably get nearly 50 spam emails a day. I hate how my work email gets sold to so many stupid people. I also hate that my email gets ghosted so I receive emails from foreign ISPs saying my email didn't go through, which I never sent at all.
If you haven't seen... Lynn will be slowing down FBoFW in September (see here) and moving the strip to Michael and his family, using old strips to supplement as well. I didn't realize she's been doing this for 28 years. You certainly can tell. I think Elizabeth just needs to be an old spinster. She's already gotten lots of practice.
I'm a homebody, however I'd love to take dance classes and learn ballroom dancing. My parents took lessons when I was young. I used to know all the steps.
I haven't even put my Valentine's flags up outside. And we still have Halloween and Christmas decorations in the yard. Yeah, been a busy new year so far.
I try and drink at the very least 40 oz of water a day, but that's not enough.
Though I hate fighting with friends, I do it often because I have issues.
The person below me is ready for the weather to just make up its mind and stay one temperature! (It was in the 40's yesterday and 60 today... everyone is going to be sick! - and that's in Fahrenheit) |

False.
I do have one exception: Johnny Cash's "Orange Blossom Special" album. I used to listen to it in high school, and got the biggest kick out of it! I grew up in a rural area, where country music of the Grand Ole' Opry (or whatever) was common on the radio, and it just seemed like Hicksville. I understand that there's suppose to be some good stuff out there, but I just haven't been able to get past "Hello there, Country Bumpkin/Fresh as frost out on the pumpkin" and the whiney, "You picked a poor time to leave me, Lucille, with four kids to feed and a crop in the field..."
Ah, our weather was something today. Fog all day, 20 degrees, and limefrost on the trees and anything that wasn't heated. Up at Mt. Bachelor, it was sunny and 40 degrees.
I like when it's a little warmer in the winter. The slush dries up, and you can walk on the pavement without slipping all over the place. We need the moisture and the snowpack up in the mountains, though.
A lot of people at the FOOBiverse!'s Journal are planning on writing to their newspapers to protest the "hybrid" FBOW comic, and to ask for some fresh cartoonists. I think that you'd have an easier time getting rid of the crossword, and THAT will never go!
I love to ballroom dance. My husband doesn't, but my AU character puts up with me, though he always has to count out the steps. (Thank goodness for an overactive imagination!) I try to just "boogie", but my girls think I'm weird. *sigh* I miss dancing...
Yeah, I think I might be up for a Valentine Day fanfic exchange. My plot bunnies are getting kinda dusty. I'm just for Conservative or Suggestive, and I don't have any pairings in mind...
The person below me has seen "My Fair Lady", either on stage or on film. |

Both, actually. That is my absolute favorite musical.
You know I'm up for the fic exchange, LadyWhitehart.

I'm not a cancer survivor, but a great-aunt of mine survived cancer sometime in her sixties or seventies; she was in her early nineties when she died of something completely unrelated.
I've never seen "My Fair Lady", but my choir's performing a medley of four songs ("The Street Where You Live", "With A Little Bit of Luck", "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face" and "I Could Have Danced All Night") from that musical for our Spring concert this year. We've done it before—about six years ago or so we did a "Broadway Hits and Show Tunes" theme and this one was grouped in with, among other things, "When You Wish Upon a Star" from Disney's version of Pinocchio and a very long medley of songs from "The Sound of Music".
I'm not a fan of country. Most of it—especially the stuff from the last 20 years or so—sounds too phony and whiny for me. Of course, I'm probably also biased against it because I didn't have a whole lot of choice over whether I listened to it or not when I was a kid, since my dad's a huge fan of that genre. Furthermore, he was a heavy smoker back then (he still kind of is, but not as much now), and I've always been mildly allergic to cigarette smoke—even the smell of it on somebody's clothing is enough to set off a coughing fit—but still, he saw nothing wrong with smoking around my brother and I. I suspect that he never really believed back then that second-hand smoke was dangerous, and I'm certain that he didn't believe me when I told him that I could barely breathe when he smoked. Therefore, I suppose I tend to associate the sound of country music with a very unpleasant smell and the sensation of choking.

False, unless just the family getting together in the same room in the house counts!
There's just the four of us - oldest one is at college, and the rest of the relatives live elsewhere.
We've been having "freezing fog" here for days now. Blades of ice form on the trees, fences, grounds, even on pebbles. the sky is evenly grey, and the light is so evenly diffused, that there are no shadows, colors are muted, and the trees look monocromatic. It's almost like being on another planet.
It was 20 degrees yesterday. I was working at the school, and they still had recess, which I had to supervise. (I wore a blanket over my head and coat. It worked.)
Barf season has already started in earnest at "For Better or For Worse".
(JKRowling had rewrites, rejections, and finally got $4,000 for her first book...) (Speaking of barf, thanks everyone for continuing to report the spammers.)
Built a fire last night in the wood stove - thank goodness for wood heat!
The person below me also has a wood stove. |

Never had one, but my daughters would probably enjoy it a lot!
You see, here in sunny Rome snow comes once every twenty years and, when it happens, it's a delirium of joy! Therefore, descriptions like "Blades of ice form on the trees, fences, grounds, even on pebbles. the sky is evenly grey, and the light is so evenly diffused, that there are no shadows, colors are muted, and the trees look monocromatic" sound extremely interesting and even appealing, but surely make me thank God that I'm living in an almost perennial fall/spring during winter. The lowest degree we have rechead is -1 C, and just for two nights!
Overhill: my signature is in Latin, a language which I worship for its many wonderful characteristics. The meaning is "The Rose stands in its ancient name, naked names are all we have". It's the philosophical premise to one of the most beautiful Italian book, which I warmly (given the weather, it's the right adverb) recommend to everybody. It's called "The Name of the Rose" and it's a medioeval mystery taking place in a monastery. The writer is Umberto Eco, who is one of the best modern Italian writers plus a worldly renowned Semiology professor. His prose is so rich, the plot is so intriguing, his characters are so well defined, that, even if you are not interested in those remote centuries, the story grabs you powerfully until the end. Sorry for my enthusiasm, but I really liked the book... perhaps because I love history, literature, Latin and knowing more about life in those obscure ages. If somebody is interested, I can suggest more of Eco's books, I think that they have all been translated into English.
(OK, Umberto, you owe me a coffee for this presentation. "Coffee paid", as we say in Italy)
The person below me would like to know more about modern Italian literature
NO, I'm joking!

True, though only partially—I just found out which competitions on the Highland Games circuit my pipe band's going to be playing at this year.
Actually, I would like to know more about modern Italian literature; the most recently published Italian book that I have is from around 1950. You'd think I'd have access to more Italian books, considering that I live in a city with a very large percentage of people with Italian backgrounds (many of whom are fluent in Italian), but they're surprisingly difficult to find.
No wood stove at the house, but there is one out at my aunt's camp (or "cottage by a lake", to anyone outside of Northern Ontario). She doesn't go out there often—last year she went out there once, and it was the first time in a couple of years—so she lets my mother and I use it. There are very few weeks in between May 1 and November 1 when we aren't out there at least once, even if it's just for the day.
Overhill, "Barf Season" is right. FBoFW has moved from "Semi-Realistic Fantasy" to "What the Heck is Lynn Johnston Smoking?!" in the last year or so. Mike's impossible advance for a first novel (free of rewrites, at that!) is the last bit of proof that I need for that assessment, anyway.
The person below me knows whether we've repeated any "person below me" statements yet. |

I'll organize the Valentine exchange. Because it's short notice, we can do 100 word drabbles or 500 word ficlets. Check back later today.
The person below me has seen the latest "Equus" promotional pictures. Here's my reaction: http://ladywhitehart.livejournal.com/6421.html?thread=5653.
Nope, however I have been on JKs website today and seen the latest news...so my person below bit is........
The person below me didn't know that the release date for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is July 21st 2007! |

Just got the email from Borders and am not happy. One week after the release of OotP. Gee, they want all their money at once. I just hope the book is what we're expecting, or at least something better.
Lady Whitehart, your link isn't working. Though considering I'm the one who posted the link to the pics... yeah, I've seen Dan. Wow.
I don't know how to write drabbles, but I'm willing to try.
I'd love to have a wood stove or even a fireplace. Not that our weather calls for its use much.
I'm positive we've repeated ourselves sometime.
Penfanna, will you be in North Carolina any?

True. Fortunately, I live in an area of town where there are plenty of back roads I can take on my way back home. There are lots of trees around, so that creates a bit of very useful shelter, and because there's less traffic there's also less of a chance of meeting one of those idiots who likes to drive 20 kilometres over the limit on icy roads in poor visibility.
I'm not lactose intolerant, thank goodness; although I get most of my calcium from non-dairy foods, I do have a certain fondness for the occasional slice of a really good cheese or a glass of homogenized milk (again, this is only an occasional treat).
JKR really does seem to like releasing her books in July, doesn't she? Ah, well—it'll make for some nice summer reading.
I probably won't be in North Carolina anytime soon, Jynx—most of my travel is done in the summer with my pipe band, and even then that's mostly in Ontario with one Games in Michigan (as well as going through Michigan to get from Sault Ste. Marie to various places further South in Ontario a bit more quickly). Just out of curiosity, why?
Speaking of summer, the person below me has gone swimming outdoors on a clear, starry summer night. |
