Don't know if I got this right, but it's a story where she discovers that she is froom a line of very strong magicked people (or somethign akin to that), and she sets forth to learn how to control this magic. Also, she sees the corners of the "veil" and is able to at one point dsicover that between the hawthorne tree, the holly, the willow, and some other tree, there is an area or high power, that she can tap into.
She even carries a "staff" that has an old, Celtic name. No one can touch this staff except Hermione.
I might also be mixing up stories here, but can anyone help? |

ok, i'm not at all sure if this is the story you are looking for, but you Did say that you might be confusing stories together (which does make life difficult). I know that that staff thing is something i have read befor e(i'm just not sure if is from this story, which i am rereading ... its Bambu's Summoning

Normally I post responses when i am significantly more sure of my recommendation, but I was just reading chapter 8, and came across this bit in reguards to Hermione seeing the veil on Hogwarts grounds.
"to prove to herself that she’d really seen the charcoal drapery, the doorway to another plane of existence. She’d been amazed to realize that the branch forming part of the arch was an ancient Apple tree. To further her surprise – the shock of recognition had sent goose bumps up her arms -- the cardinal point due south of the Apple was guarded by a mighty, gnarled Oak. Quickly shifting her eyes to the final two cardinal points, she discovered the western guardian was the Holly under which Hermione had such fond, if brief, memories, while the east gate, closing the circle, was an open grassy knoll."
If it's not what you are looking for it's still worth the read (tho it is WIP) its bloody good, (which my still being awake at 4am just reading a "little bit more" solidly attests to.)
.... btw... The staff thing i am remembering is Hermione needing a new wand (the reason for this escapes me) and Olivander has the staff, i think it had been kept specifically for the one who would need it, and i think there is some sub story about how he won't himself be involved with the war, but he can give her the staff thats hers... or something? does that sound like the same sort of thing? ... might make it easier to keep at eye out for it, if there were a few more details
good luck in your search tho

Typing with gloves = not easy, but typing with frostbit fingers is worse. |

I think it might be Bambu's "Summoning." It's still a WiP? Oh, I thought it had been finished!
BTW, do you have Raynuad's? I was wondeirng about the typiing with gloves bit. I have Raynauds...
Cheers, and thanks!! |
