Evening all,
I'm looking for a beta for a HG-centric fic, currently 7 chapters and ca. 25,000 words. It's a work in progress, but I'm not sure yet just how long it's going to be. I'm averaging about 3000-3500 words per chapter, and will probably write another 3, making 10 chapters total - but again, I'm not sure.

Name: Devil's Eye
Length: 10-ish chapters, 7 written but not betad
Characters: HG, HP, RW, OMC, Grayback, Order members - the whole shebang.
Warnings: DH compliant (spoilers), some moderately graphic violence, some sexual scenes but nothing hardcore and no slash
Pairings: HG/OMC, HG/RW, HP/GW, others as per canon
Plot: - It's posted in the Plot Bunnies section of this forum, but to summarise the story I ended up writing around the original post:
Set pretty much immediately post-DH - Harry has left Godric's Hollow without warning to hunt down the remaining Death Eaters, who are still committing atrocities after the fall of Voldemort. Ron chases after him and ends up in a magic-induced coma.
Hermione's parents are killed by a Death Eater shortly after, and Hermione packs up and leaves to be alone with her grief. She meets someone who can help her take down the Death Eater responsible. She disappears for 3 years, leaving Harry alone with his grief and fear. When she returns, Hermione is a little different. She's learned to fight, and comes bearing news that the werewolves, led by Greyback, are on the move and looking for an artifact called the Devil's Eye - massively powerful and with the potential to destroy whole civilisations.
Hermione and the Order cross paths a few times in their search for this Eye. The action is Hermione-centric for the majority of the time.
Contrary to Acid's preference, I've not paired HG with either Lupin or Snape for obvious reasons, and essentially what I'm looking for are plot inconsistencies, canon-picking, and preferably someone with a knowledge of Buffy for 1 chapter. I don't want Hermione to turn into Buffy either, so help with that would be great. I'm in no rush to post - hell, I've been working on this, on and off, for about 18 months! I'm happy for any and all feedback as this is my first "proper" fic.
If anyone is interested I'm nore than happy to mail them a chapter and take it from there. More than one beta is obviously also great, but I won't get too ambitious! |
