I distinctly remember the author taking almost a derisive/snide tone with this piece, which is part of the reason I remember as much as I do.
I believe Hermione is "backpacking through Europe" (or the Wizarding equivalent) during a semester break and she somehow meets up with a self-exiled Snape in Amsterdam, of all places. Intoxicants and "Adult Things" happen over the course of the narrative, and eventually he brings her back home to show her Snape Manor. I'm not sure the story as it stood was completed, or if it was ever posted on Ashwinder (though best instinct says it was). Any help is appreciated, and as always, thanks in advance!

Dear AquilaLorelei --
I'm almost certain that the story which you describe is called "Wizard's Breath". I came across it recently while browsing through the WIKTT Archives (http://wiktt.serpentsstratagem.com) -- the author's name (at least on that site) is Shaolin. If this story ever was posted on Ashwinder, I'm almost positive that it isn't there anymore. It may have been posted on Lord and Lady Snape, the precursor to Ashwinder -- I can recall at least one story posted on Lord and Lady Snape which didn't survive the transition to Ashwinder.
I can't say that I remember this story as having an especially snide or derisive tone -- but perhaps the reason why you perceived (or remember perceiving) it that way is because I think the author did a fairly good job of keeping Snape close to canon and because a major part of the plot involves Snape persuading Hemione to have a fling with him as a means of shocking Ron and Harry in retaliation for going off to have fun without her. Hermione also gets quite snarky when she eventually confronts them about it! |
