errr.... My answer maybe a little biased, because I am a fanartist... I'm going to go with true?
I think we get more recognition because our work is right there in an easy to view format. The fanfic writers deserve more attention than they get, because it's a lot of work to write a good fanfic.

True - I'm a guitarist and a pianist as well. I've been a musician most of my life.
The person below me didn't know who Alan Rickman was before the Harry Potter movies. |

True!
I didn't keep up with "Alan Rickman" fan club. It took me a while to realize it was the guy from Die Hard and Robin Hood, though I did like both movies with him in it.
To keep along with the AR theme...
The person below me believes Alan Rickman, while a excellent actor, should not be playing Snape. (Not saying he does a lousy job, I just don't see him as canon Snape.) |

True. I do adore Alan Rickman, but he is frankly too old to be playing Snape and well, doesn't have the right look for it.
The person below me enjoys gen stories more the porn or relationship stories. |

True and false.
While I prefer gen stories I love to read a well written porn or relationship story.
To break off subject for a second: Metamuse I know what you mean about school. It sucks big time.
Ok back to topic at hand. The person below me thinks Jason Issacs is to good looking to play Lucius Malfoy. |

False. I think he's got the Upperclass arrogance down to an art. (And I also have a super secret crush on him) Maybe it's the cane...and the malice...and the good looking evil of hotness.
PS- He's Mel Gibson's opposite in The Patriot, again playing an upperclass arrogant jerk, which i never realized until last week.
The person below me thinks that Tom Felton (Draco) is growing up to be too handsome for his own good. |

True! I just watched Anna and the King last night and it had tiny little Tom Fleton in it as Jodi Foster's son and I just wanted to squeeze his little baby cheeks. He is so utterly adorable... and I am far too old to be noticing that.
The next person reading this is a fan of Lost. |

False. I've tried watching it but I can't get into it.

False; I thought it was pretty funny. The finale was all wrong, mind you.
The person below me is a "canon nazi". |

True and false. I was upset at the time, I cried -- just as I did when Snape casted the AK curse at Dumbledore in the last book. But, as far as fan fiction wise I wasn't... he wasn't a character I've ever written about, so it wasn't something that hit me hard.
The person below me thinks we should have more Weasley Twins threesome porn. |

False! Icky!
*hates the Twincest and Twincest-related pairings*
The person below me has seen the movies, but has never actually read the Harry Potter books. |

False. I've read all the books at least a few times. It wasn't 'til recently that I saw Prisoner of Azkaban.
The person below me likes humor fanfics best. |

Well, that's true, but also false. I love humor done well. I've even taken a stab at writing some myself. I don't really have a favorite genre.
The person below me is a Ron/Luna shipper. |

Strictly speaking, False. But I've read a lot of fanfics where they are a minor couple in the story, and it always seems like a nice pairing.
The person below me likes Lupin/Sirius pairings. |
