<  The Ministry of Magic  ~  What are # of "reads" under my account?

Hi, I am a newbie author and wondered what are # of reads under the edit/delete option in my account. I just published my two works so it shows the numbers but what are they actually for, or how are they determined? Anyone know or have an idea?

It indicates how many times a story or chapter has been viewed.
