I'm looking for a relatively new "marriage law" fic that I think
I read at ashwinder... sadly I can't remember the title.
I only read the first couple of chapters, but hopefully it's helpful...
In a universe where the events of Half-Blood Prince unfolded, it's
after the war (Voldemort was defeated) and Hermione works at
Hogwarts (Trasfigurations-teacher?). Minerva is Headmistress and
Severus has been (more or less) cleaned.
For a while, the Ministry and Wizag(what ever) has been debating a
Muggle-born marriage-law act... especially in views of the large
number of casualties in the war. It seems like they finally is going
to write it into law, and the faculty rally behind Hermione. Hermione
has been fighting the law along with other muggle-borns and parents
of muggle-borns.
While discussing the seemingly unavoidable law, Hermione uses the
expression "It isn't over until the Fat Lady sings"; and when the wizards
doesn't understand it, she explains that the expression means "don't
give up until it's over", and that it either comes from operas by Wagner
or is a miss-quote of "the fat lady *sinks*" -- which refers to the
eight-ball in pool.
