I was wondering... how much do Hermione's parents actually know about the wizarding world, the present dangers and their daughter's activities?

I mean what are they going to say if Hogwarts will be closed?

"Hermoine, dear, why has your school been closed?"
HG:"The Headmaster has died"
"was he ill?"
HG "No he was killed by one of the professors"
"But why?"
HG "well there's this evil Wizard who is trying to kill my best friend and everyone who's muggle born - including us and Dumbledore's killer is helping him"

I somehow doubt that her parents are going to be too happy about that

My two cents - I think that Hermione's parents are absolutely oblivious, and may possibly remain that way for a while yet.

"Enjoy your last year at Hogwarts, dear!"
"Will do Mum. See you at Christmas!"

No one is better at maintaining parental deception better than a moderately clever teenage girl.

"My parents are Muggles, mate", said Dean, shrugging. "They don’t know nothing about no deaths at Hogwarts, because I’m not stupid enough to tell them."

I thought Hermoine subscribed to the Daily Prophet. Surely her parents have skimmed over the front page before she runs off to her room? Unless someone can clarify that for me: does she only get it during the schoolyear?

When Rita Skeeter's writing horrible things about Hermione in the paper, she says, "My parents don't read the Daily Prophet, she can't scare me into hiding!" So presumably they only know what Hermione tells them Smile

And I agree with the comment about teenage girls being able to hide things lol.
