Hi. I read this a long time ago, and never finished it. Hermione finds a black dragon in the Forbidden Forest and mentally communicates with it. He calls himself Astair or Alistair...she suspects he is Severus who disappeared when VoldieSnort cursed him.

Does this fic stir any cauldrons? Question

Yep, it sure does. I'm almost certain that the story which you're trying to remember is "Damsels & Dragons", which was started by VelvetSong but is being continued by another author named MsTree. (When Severus is in dragon form, his name is Athair.)
