The story was set post HBP i think.
Hermione is trying to find out more about possible Horcruxes by researching the founders and decides to write a book. It is the 900th anniversary of Hogwarts and she writes two books, one more scholarly. The founders worked with a muggle monk at the time.
Colin Creevey takes the photos for the books, including one of a tapestry.
It comes out that the purebloods are descended from muggles.
Minerva gets her friend to publish it, maybe has the last name of Quill? For the publicity photo, they take photos of the horcruxes.
They also discover that the Chamber of Secrets has statues of all the founders.
Minerva might have slept with Tom Riddle and Bellatrix placed the horcrux of Ravenclaw's writing desk in the Chamber of Secrets.
I hope someone recognises this. |

| I found it "Mists of Time" by amr on OWL. Unfortunately not finished but still an excellent read |
