Okay, so lately I've a hankering for reading some of the very first SSHG stories I ever read, but I have utterly no idea what they were called and I may have a few details wrong. These are at LEAST five years old, maybe older than that. I remember one was on Geocities or Tripod or something like that; no idea on the rest of them!
1) HP is missing, SS and HG go off to find him. Very long story, ends up Harry is in a cottage or something and SS and HG are lurking about with HG in animagius form... as a puppy! I'm thinking they stay in a house Dumbledore designed... I remember a mirror that shows you yourself as other people see you... DD doesn't approve of their budding romance, Harry I think was more tolerant... maybe a scene on a beach? I think they decide not to get together in the end since HG is still in school. This was the first SS/HG fic I ever read, and I've never read it since!
2) A story very much like Pawn to Queen, except shorter. There's a unicorn subplot with Hermione being able to gather some potion ingredient (unicorn blood?) for Snape, and the song "The Last Unicorn" is used throughout, I think with a singing wardrobe. I remember this one not being terribly well written, grammatically, and maybe 10 chapters long. For some reason I always think it was called "Of Love and Death Eaters" and I thought it was on ff.net, but I haven't been able to find it so I think I've got something wrong.
3) This one I only vaguely remember, and I'm not sure it's as old as the other two--but S needs virgin blood for one of his potions and he's discussing this with DD and it ends up that they ask Hermione to donate, or she overhears and volunteers or something. I also remember--though this may be a different story!--that it ends up tying her to him because he was using the potion for protection or something.

| Oooh, thank you so much! You're brilliant! The first one is definitely the one I was talking about, and I think you've nailed the third, too, though I haven't re-read it yet to be sure. I never would have found it 'cause I thought for sure that The Buried Life was on its own site. :) Thank you thank you! |

It looks like someone beat me to it with regard to identifying the first story you described as being "The Buried Life". I'm similarly at a loss with regard to the second story you describe. However, it occurs to me that the third story might possibly be "Last Minute Crisis" by Quillusion (available on Ashwinder) since it contains nearly all the plot elements you describe. In this story, Voldemort has commanded Snape to make him a rare potion which will give him the ability to gather strategic information via telepathy from all the Death Eaters (who will each be required to add a drop of their blood to the potion before Voldemort drinks it). However, what Snape knows and Voldemort doesn't is that 1) virgin's blood would make this potion even more powerful, giving Voldemort complete access to all their thoughts -- and 2) Snape himself is a virgin, so Voldemort will learn everything he knows about the Order and will certainly kill him once he discovers that Snape is disloyal. When Snape visits Dumbledore to tell him about the potion he has been ordered to make, he doesn't notice that Hermione is in the room as well -- but she surprises him by offering him the most obvious and most expedient solution to his dilemma.
