Story title: Metanoia - The Conversion of Severus Snape
Summary: Snape's decisions from his graduation from Hogwarts until Halloween 1981.
Rating: B
Category/Genres: Angst/Drama
Ship: No romance to speak of, but pairings include Lucius/Narcissa, Bellatrix/Rodolphus and James/Lily
Warnings: Torture and Character Death
This story is 10 chapters long (50,000+ words), and I would like another set of eyes to take a look at it before I post it. I began writing it after finishing HBP, because (like everyone!) I wanted to know "What is Snape's deal?" I'm not sure my story answers that question, but it certainly does explore it. Basically, it covers why he joined the Death Eaters, his relationship with Lucius Malfoy, why he was spying on Trewlaney (and why he told the prophecy to Voldemort), as well as why he went to Dumbledore (and why Dumbledore trusts him). Hopefully, I have maintained some of the ambivalence we associate with Snape's motives!
Book 7 will probably blow my ideas out of the water, but hey, it was fun to wrestle with these questions! I kept to canon as much as possible, except for when it was inconvenient  .
As for warnings, no sexuality beyond a kiss or two (despite a wedding and the birth of several babies  ). Explicit torture and the deaths of several characters are described (some are canon, but all are minor in this story). I discovered that when all of your main characters are Death Eaters, unpleasant things are bound to happen!
This is a very busy time of year, I realize, so I am looking for someone to look over the story after Christmas, or in the New Year.
I would hope that a beta could let me know if the story hangs together as well as I think it does  , and make suggestions for improvements. Brit-picking would also be helpful (I am American).
