Since everyone seems to be doing it these days, I thought I would share my own personal rec list. Keep in mind that these are simply my own personal recommendations!

Note: I will be adding to this from time to time. Now, onto the recs...

But You Alone by Azazello
Personally, this is probably my favourite SS/HG fic to date. Hell, I would be hard pressed not to call it my favourite piece of fanfiction to date. In an attempt to not look lazy, I will say a few words about this piece; however, I do not believe that I can adequately put into words how great I think this piece is. It is something that must be read; it must be experienced in order to fully appreciate the genius.

The characters, both Hermione and Snape, are very in character. Given that this is a piece of fanfiction, the attention paid to keeping these characters as close to their canon-counterparts is amazing. In addition, the original characters are quite frankly some of the best original characters ever conceived in fanfiction. In my opinion, a great original character sets out to accomplish one of two things: to either make you love them, despite all of their faults, or they make you hate them, but they also make you love to hate them. Each and every one of the original characters in this particular piece play their roles to perfection. I have to admit that there have been scenes where I have wanted nothing more than to hate one particular OC or another, but I simply cannot bring myself to do so.

The emotion that drives the characters in this piece is simply breathtaking. In addition to the emotion, there is the plot, which I won't give away here; I will just say that the plot is probably one of the greatest assets that this fic has going...along with the characters, and the emotion, and the writing, and...everything.

The writing behind this fic is something else that must be praised. No hitting the back button on this piece. It isn't all about proper grammar and spelling, folks. Of course, the mechanics of this fic are far from lacking, and I would even go so far as to say that the mechanics are as close to perfection as mechanics can get, but it is the style and the flow that is so simply flawless.

Great care has been taken to make this fic so amazingly flawless in all areas, and it shows.

Therapy by Azazello
Another great fic by the same author mentioned above. This particular fic is definitely Snape-centric. And as far as Snape-centric fics go, I haven't managed to find a more engaging piece to date.

Again, the characterisations are simply amazing. The writing, the plot, the style and flow. This particular piece is probably the first piece that I've read that manages to delve into Severus Snape's mind and remain believable. Another one that must be read in order to truly appreciate its genius.

The Only Warmth by Azazello
This is a sequel to Therapy, and again, it is simply amazing. It is an SS/HG fic. A very, very believable SS/HG fic. It is also has equal parts emotion and plot.

Letter from Exile One Merciful Morning by Sphinx
A story that needs no introduction, I'm sure. If you haven't read this piece than I suggest you stop whatever it is you are doing and read it. NOW!

Still one of the greatest, and oldest, pieces of SS/HG ever written. A more real look at the fall-out of a teacher/student relationship. Must read!

Calling Card by Bambu
I love this particular piece because of its more adult feeling. And no, I don't mean porn. What I mean is that this is a piece that just feels more mature, it is a story that I can see happening 10 years down the road in canon.

It is a romance, but it is more mental than it is physical. Most of the story is told in Snape's perspective, and in fact, we don't really get a lot of Hermione interaction for a good portion. There is a bit of a mystery or puzzle going on, and it really sucked me in. I read this particular piece as it was being updated to the archives, and it was one of the stories that I lit up to seeing updated.

The Valentine's Day Series by Kalina:
Still Here
Survivors
Homecoming

This is a set of one-shots, or a trilogy of sorts. They are all three amazing in their own right, but together they are simply brilliant. Again, these must be read to be truly appreciated.
