This past week I read a really great SS/HG fic that I can find again. After Voldemort was defeated, Hermione cleared serverus's name while he was in st.Mungos. He goes back to Spinner's End and Hermione seeks him out because no one else cares. Severus is at death's door with only Winky to care for him. Hermione stays and nurses him back to health. The both comfort each other during nightmares and Hermione restores severus's private potions lab. They are called to the ministry to testify against Bellatrix LaStrange.
Some specific details I remember are: Severus has lost fingers, an eye, and has extremely damaged feet. He also uses a cane.
-Ron is dead and he and Hermione were romantically involved before his death.
-Severus is shocked when Winky accepts that Hermione can care for him and goes on vacation while they testify at the trial.
-Draco visits severus and is shocked by his condition.
