Harry Potter is not Little Lord Fountleroy.

No, but he'd look great in the little velvet suit.

Personally, I've always visualised little Severus wearing one of those...

Before things went bad...

*Runs away, cackling.*

Hidden away somewhere in my deep and dank musty to-do box, I have a pisstake fic of The Secret Garden, featuring a young Snape as Colin.

Snape: I'm going to die.
Mary Sparklypoo: From what?
Snape: Everything.

...and that is why you should be grateful that I'm not really a fic writer. Twisted Evil

...and the Potter family had driven Seraphimus Snape to the brink of despair. Snape Manor would have fallen into the bloodtraitor's hands, had it not been for Lucius Malfoy.

Lucius, who had stepped in. Lucius, whom Mathilde Romanova-Snape, the Snape matriarch, worshipped like the saviour he had become for them. And if that had not been enough, Lucuis had taken a paternal interest in young Severus, and had become his mentor in all things Dark, Revels, Arts and Artifacts. To this day, Severus gets misty eyed when he remembers those happy times.

Sometimes, Severus takes out a little box made entirely of onyx, so dark that it swallows the rays of light emanating from the fireplace. He will open the box with a special incantation that was passed down to him, the last of the once proud House of Snape, and he will take out a piece of rare black silk and will place it on the rug before the fireplace. And he will unwrap the silk that contains his most precious possession...

A green velvet suit. Adorned with the Snape family crest.

Severus will wipe away a tiny tear, wishing with all his heart he could openly admit his love for the Malfoy family. He hates to hear the whispers behind their backs, the insinuations, the gossip. It was not true! None of it. They were a wonderful, loving family.

He wishes he could shout it from the top of the Astronomy Tower, for all those dunderheads to hear: Lucius Malfoy is a good man.

Sometimes, Severus doesn't know how to bear the silence. But he is strong. All he can do to repay Lucius' generous heart is to watch over his son.

Draco. That wonderful, clever boy.

Severus grits his teeth when he thinks of that day, Draco's first day at Hogwarts. How the silver-haired boy had cried in Severus' arms. He, a Malfoy, had extended his hand in friendhip to James Potter Jr. And James Potter Jr had rejected Draco's friendship. For the love of a Weasley. How dare he. How unspeakably vile, to do this to an innocent child. His godson. Draco.

Oh, but Potter will pay. Severus swears, as he once again carefully wraps his most precious possession. He will pay. Forever.

*Ducks* I hope my little foray into HP-author-dom is not inappropriate for this forum. It's a character study you see. Based on canon.

That's actually something I would personally love reading...

That and anna_kat's brilliant little vignette above.

Green velvet suit indeed! I will come and be your house elf for that...

I really don't like Harry... I don't pretend to know why. He just bothers me. Haha. It's ironic.

I must say, I used to ADORE Harry. I was feeling the HarryLove. Now, I'm kind of "meh" about him. While I liked that OotP made him more realistic, CAPS LOCK!Harry got kind of annoying after a few chapters. And he's a bit of a prat in HBP as well (I'm American, but I adore the term "prat."). But then again, he IS a teenage boy... Razz

HarryHate and SnapeLove seem to go hand in hand...is it possible to feel HarryLove and SnapeLove at the same time? It does seem that my love for Harry diminished as my SnapeLove grew....but I don't HATE Harry...the rose-colored glasses just came off.

On the whole Pensieve thing: While it was terribly wrong for Harry to look in it (and even worse for him to not try to apologize after Snape justifiably kicked him out), I'm glad he did, for characterization's sake. It gave us an insight into Snape that we wouldn't have gotten, as well as forcing Harry to see his dad as someone other than the demigod that everyone else always painted him as. Harry got to see that at least some of Snape's hatred is justified. Harry needs to learn that Snape AND the Marauders were jerks during their Hogwarts days.

P.S. Brilliant post, anna_kat. Laughing

Well, now that DH is out, this argument becomes more interesting, especially on the Snapelove vs. Harrylove thing. I am a huge Snape fan, but I like Harry. I understand why Harry hates Snape- as far as Harry's concerned, Snape is being especially nasty to him for no real reason. But I understand Snape too - Harry, aside from occasionally being a typical, irritating teenager, is a daily reminder of Snape's failure to win Lily, as well as a reminder of Lily herself.

And no, I don't really like Draco all that much. He's interesting as a character, but he's still a prat. But I don't think he's evil - not on the Voldemort level, anyway. He specialises in petty evils.
