Beta Experience: My experience in editing mainly comes from my work as a teaching assistant during my university years. I've plenty of practice marking papers and essays, but beyond that, I've only beta-ed 2 novel-length HP fanfic on fictionalleypark.
Writing Experience: Mostly limited to nonfiction, although I have a few WIPs that I'm far too chicken to post 
Ratings: Anything, really. I don't squick, and on the off chance that something does bother me, I'll be quick to let you know.
Ships: Any. Although I'm primarily a SS/HG shipper, I've pretty much gone through the buffet Chances are I've read it before.
Categories/Genres: Again, anything, although I do have a soft spot for romance.
Strengths as a beta reader: I'm the Hermione Granger of grammar/spelling/punctuation--I nitpick. I can spot an error a mile away, and of course can offer style/phrasing opinions if asked.
Perhaps more importantly, I know canon like the back of my hand, and can work with plot contingencies easily as well. I'll check plot continuity, OOC-ness, and can offer bunnies and talk through any ideas if needed as well.
Weaknesses: I'm blunt, and honest to a fault. I try to be diplomatic in my corrections, but sometimes may come off as Snape-ish...don't hire if you're thin-skinned. Also, although I'm a great fan of British-isms, I'm not natively Brit. I can spot the more obvious issues, but you'll probably need a specialized Brit-picker for the finer points.
Dislikes: OOC-ness, incest, m-preg. Also, straight-up MLC fics. I'm getting sick of lack of creativity with those... |
