The White Stag (Newbery Library, Puffin) by Kate Seredy, Newberry Award winner 1937.
I haven't read it yet, but I bought it after I had a customer tell me about it. She had read it as a child, and had created her own stories and art based upon it, and had loved it dearly. It was recently reprinted, and was for sale in the store, so she'd bought it. I flipped through it (it has "moon maidens" in it) and it looks enchanting. (ack! Pun On Purpose!)
Will read it maybe this week.
Just read the post on the Spiderwick books. I've been avoiding them, but, okay, since you say they're good, I'll go check them out. |
