Hi,
I'm only going to go over this once, so pay attention.
If someone post something here that you do not like, HIT THE BACK BUTTON! It is really as simple as that.
If you strongly feel the need to respond, and please feel free if you are willing and able to debate in a constructive manner, then stay on topic and keep personal opinions of the person you are responding to out of your post.
I've read each post in this thread and nothing mentioned prior to the recent 'chop job' and 'pick a quote' done about another poster has been in any way, in my opinion at least, rude.
This, for example, is unacceptable:
Quote: I have enjoyed your stories up to this point. It saddens me to find an otherwise admirable author behaving as you are now.
In other words. Cut it out, all of you. And simmer down. Keep finger pointing and named attacks out of your post. (I could give a flip less if anyone refers to posters as 'silly fangirls' or 'crap authors' so long as they are keeping the name of those authors and fangirls to themselves)
I don't want to start deleting posts, but I will.
Diana

Heheheh.
So true. HP is always good for a wank. And might I add, those who call you out on being part of wank and how much they're enjoying laughing at you are always good for a wank. [see? like that reference there?]
There will be people on both sides who call the other brainless twits, I do try not to take it personally... It might be of comfort to note that many of those who seem to be going the "my way or the highway" route have always done so--nothing new. "My MLC response is the only realistic one and anyone else who responds is so totally brainless and in denial about snape." "My fic about Snape in a leather thong engaging in S&M with lucius is ABSOLUTELY CANON and those who think otherwise just don't understand JKR like I do." "Harry is teh h0tness, you eeeevil slytherin bastards!" "Alan Rickman is a PERFECT Snape and just as shaggable, the only people who want Trent Reznor as Snape are dunderheads!" well. Or something to that effect.
And I, for one, just can't make up my damn mind either way--I'm convinced I'm in denial one moment and absolutely sure Snape is Dumbledore's Man the next. JKR has just made things too ambiguous, for me. I honestly don't see the clarity people are claiming exists, and can't be convinced by the same things they are. I am therefore resigned to a negative reaction by all sides... Hey... I feel a bit like Snape... ;]
I can't remember the point of this post, either... ah, well. better just hit the "submit" button, then. |

Hee-hee!
See, I am, but that's the point--someone out there isn't!! Actually, if you ask me, my perfect snape would have Alan Rickman's voice (and acting experience--we don't want a snape who acts as well as HPSS-harry) + Trent Reznor's look + a few years (or maybe just minus showbusiness-level-airbrushing ), and the aforementioned bad teeth, big nose, and permascowl. I've never heard his speaking voice, though. Still, JKR mentioned she was so pleased w/ Rickman being cast, and I can't imagine his voice played any small part in her preference for him. It's unfortunate it's not turning out to work out exactly like the book, because, from what we've seen out of Rickman in his other films, he's so, so capable of it... bloody directors who've changed Snape into a joke in all the films....
But this is all off-topic! Snape-detractors are vicious! And they suck! But so do snape-lovers-who-call-other-snape-lovers-names! ;] ;] |

I like them. Together. And naked. Mmm.
*coughs*
But that's not canon, so nevermind.

personally, i found that disturbing. for i'm a very imaginative guy, and sentences like that tends to put *images* in my head. not good. not good at all.
My husband says the same thing. I was reading through some slash fics at Wolfsbane the other day, and he came strolling over.
Him: Whatcha reading?
Me: Oh, fanfiction. Nothing important.
Him: Really? *looks over my shoulder* WHOA! HEY! DIDN'T NEED THAT!
Okay, well, maybe not quite so dramatic, but that was the gist of it. |

I know lots who do. I don't seek it out, personally, but I certainly don't mind it. It's all good. |

I don't think there's any need to argue... fanon has always been coloured by the imagination of its various authors, anyway. That's why, although I understand the point of view of those who feel they can no longer write SS/HG, I myself will keep slogging at it.
Why?
Well, I've always loved Snape, and I love my ship, however unrealistic. And now, JK has blessed me with a new book just FULL of Snape character development! Am I the only one who's thrilled at this?
Darling JK has opened up many doors for Snapefics. Whether they involve Evil!Snape or Redeemed!Snape, it doesn't matter. We know more about this character than ever, and can be assured that there is more to come. I'd say at this point, it's no worse to write a post-HBP Redeemed!Snapefic than it was to write a Romantic!Snapefic pre-HBP. |
