Actually, it may not be rude, but I wouldn't advise it. By answering, you have confirmed to them that you actually exist. Which might increase the spam they target at you.
These are my personal guidelines:
If the spam looks like it comes from a legitimate company, I click on the link at the bottom of the email asking to remove me from their mailing list. (If it's legitimate, there will be such a link; unfortunately, the fact that the link exists doesn't necessarily mean the company is legitimate.)
If it looks like all the spam we see here, I just delete it, even if there is a link to take me off their list. |
