I can be; it's true. I don't normally tend to be, but it happens.
5'6" isn't technically short, but playing volleyball as an outside hitter often got me odd looks.
I don't own a mac, but I use them often for graphics, etc.

True. I don't watch that show as constantly as I used to, but every Monday night after band practice a bunch of us go up to the bar at the Knights of Columbus hall; there are two TVs in there, and generally we catch at least one episode of "The Simpsons" there (if the guys don't forget on account of a football or hockey game, that is).
The person below me likes hats. |

True enough. I like hats in theory, but I look like an idiot in most of them.
I love this game! I tried to read through all 39 pages, but I'm on call, and if I don't get some sleep soon, taking the time to read them all will guarantee that I'll be up all night with a laboring mom. (Call it midwife magical thinking, if you like.)
Pigwig (at least I think it was you - you're in Boston, right?), I sympathize with your SAD issues, but having moved here (Virginia) from New Hampshire, I miss New England terribly this time of year.
As for holiday birthdays, mine is September 11th, so unless you count National Days of Mourning as holidays, I guess I strike out on that count. I'm iffy about pumpkin pie, too: Sometimes I love it, sometimes I could care less.
Okay, let's see: The person below me is struggling to find the purpose to their life. (Lucky you if you're not!) |

Nope, no kids, no plans to have kids the natural way, although I plan to either adopt or foster later in life. There are so many children who need that higher level of care and I love the idea of being able to help them.
I'm only 24 though, so this won't be for a while, once I have a little more life experience under my belt
We never get snow in the Midlands (UK, an hour's drive east of London). It falls from the sky already grey and slushy, and stays a few minutes before melting. I love snow and I wish we got more of it.
I haven't found my purpose in life either, but am content to meander semi-aimlessly until something crops up. I like just going with the flow without stressing about what I should be doing. If I'm happy doing what I'm doing now, then I shouldn't be doing anything else!
Ok enough with the philosophy.
The person below me can't walk past a bookstore without walking in and buying something. |

False, but only when I make a huge effort not to look at the place! I am, however, fundamentally incapable of leaving a bookstore without having bought a book.
I already know my purpose, or at least I have a good idea of what part of it might be; it's just that figuring out how to act on it is really giving me trouble right now. I suspect that someone up there has a twisted sense of humour...
midwife_witch, I know exactly what you're talking about regarding "midwife magical thinking". My mom's been a nurse in the labour and delivery department of our local hospital for over 30 years, and since we've got a shortage of nurses where I am right now, she never really knows if she's going to be called in for extra shifts.
The person below me has used a scratched, broken or otherwise useless CD as a coaster. |

Hmm.. You mean this "Restful Sleep" CD that's under my water glass right now? Yup. My husband got it as part of a nifty little gift pack at some hotel he stayed in. The eye mask part of the pack came in handy as I slept all day today, but we're both too permanently exhausted to need the CD. (And I was right: I did have to stay up all night last night, but at least I got to catch a beautiful baby girl at the end of it.)
Pennfana, congratulations on having found your purpose. I don't even know if there reallly is such a thing most days and, like Pipedreamer, I just go with the flow, but lately I've had this niggling feeling that there should be some kind of unifying theme or goal behind my somewhat random life. I think it just comes from reading too much fiction. It can give you the feeling that your life is a narrative when really, it probably isn't.
I absolutely sympathize with the bookstore thing. I'm a book hog, and my kids know that bookstores, used or new, are the only places where I'll let them get whatever they want.
Speaking of kids, mine are going to be home from school soon, so I'd better get off of here! The person below me is going dancing tonight and doesn't give a fig that it's Friday the 13th, (Okay, so I snuck two things in there. You guys won't kick me off for that, will you?) |

Not going dancing tonight.
But for us here it's the Tuesday the 13th that gives bad luck.
The person below me has written lots of fics. |

Considering how slowly I tend to write (I spend as much time refining what I've already written as writing new material), I suppose that's true.
Didn't go dancing last night, but not because it was Friday the 13th; I just had nobody to go out dancing with. Most of my friends are out of town, working so hard they just go home and collapse or in the "just you and me, baby" phase of a new relationship and I don't like to go dancing alone because I'm so darn shy. *sigh*
The person below me has read stories on the internet that are a heck of a lot better than some of the books out there. (Right now I'm reading something that my mom brought home from work; it's hilarious. Five pages in, the main female character and her best friend were speculating about the main male character's "sword" and wondering if it was "'worth worshipping with one's mouth'". The whole thing strongly reminds me of Passionate Trousers so far.) |

I've most definitely read stuff on here that was way better than published work. Maybe not in grammer or punctuation, since you don't have to go through countless publishers, but definitely in creativity and style.
I've definitely had one or two old CD's that were coasters here and there. In fact, looking around I see one right now that has a distinct water ring on it.
I've written a few stories, I have only a few that are/were more than one chapter, but I have too many drabbles to count and quite a one-shot stories as well.
The person below me is having trouble with some electronic gadget of some sort at the moment. Stupid iPods... |

True, my laptop is showing a lovely blank space across the middle of its screen.
(People, if you do buy an HP laptop/pc, make sure you've got the extended warranty. It will prevent many a phone call/e-chat, and aggrevation.)

Nope. I don't writes 'em, I just reads 'em. However, I do have any number of beloved fics on my favorite list that have been abandoned by their authors (Lynne Piton, where are you?!?!). All you writers out there, we readers love your work and we feel so bereft when you abandon them. So if any of you have an orphaned fic, please consider picking it back up.
As far as gadget misbehavior goes, my most prized gadget (my PDA) probably would be misbehaving if I hadn't lost it. Ack! It took me forever to decide to get the stupid thing, I had it for maybe three months and then I managed to lose it. That kind of soured me on expensive gizmos, so I'm going back to being a Luddite.
No cats here, either. I admit it: In this feline world, I'm a dog person. Give me Snuffles over Crookshanks anyday. Nonetheless, I have the greatest respect for cat people, so please, don't flame me!

Severus/Hermione is not as unusual as I thought it was when I first found it. Otherwise, no, I don't really like anything that's unusual I suppose.
My iPod decided to no longer accept half the songs that have been on it for like six months now. It's so frustrating, because for a while, it wasn't accepting anything at all. Grr...
I'm currently sitting at an awkward angle, because my cat, who already owns me, has taken the 'good spot.'
The person below me loves scented candles. |
