Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster:

It just occurred to me the other day... is (was?) Dumbledore a Parselmouth? In all of the pensive memories with the Gaunts he never once asked Harry what was being said which indicates he understood too. As JK said in an interview that Dumbledore's family was important is this also indicative that he was a member of the family?

And while I'm on the subject, when Slughorn is showing the class the potions in the first lesson he mentions to Malfoy not to underestimate the dangerous power of unrequinted love (or to that effect), could that have been JK alluding to Snape's theoretically unrequinted love of Lilly???

I'm sorry if the spellings are hopeless, English is only my 1st language Embarassed
