The reason for this scene in 'Order of the Phoenix': "...a hook-nosed man was shouting at a cowering woman, while a small dark-haired boy cried in a corner..."

A Little Prince is a one-shot look at Snape's very early childhood. In addition, it suggests why Snape took the styling: "The Half-blood Prince".

Characters: Eileen Prince, Tobias Snape and a very young Severus Snape.

Naturally, this fic is canon compliant, and is hopefully an escape from the tidal wave of grand guignol post HBP fics that are around.
